I just finished The Ivy Crown, a novel about Katherine Parr--have you ever read it?Susan Higginbothamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13517907583894026599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-1156910082354420502006-08-29T23:54:00.000-04:002006-08-29T23:54:00.000-04:00That cover gives the impression that Henry was all...That cover gives the impression that Henry was all smitten with his German bride and that's just so laughably ahistorical. But poor Anne probably wasn't as ugly as she's popularly thought. Henry always had a penchant for small, petite women, so any girl with any curves on her just wasn't his type. Katherine Parr and she have always been my favorite wives.Frankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03301077496668834657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-1156330079146504122006-08-23T06:47:00.000-04:002006-08-23T06:47:00.000-04:00I expect the brown paper jacket or hollowed-out co...I expect the brown paper jacket or hollowed-out copy of War and Peace did sterling service.
Does the content deserve the cover? It must have taken a brave person in the 1950's to read historical fiction, with some of those lurid covers.Susan Higginbothamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13517907583894026599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-1156270814703439212006-08-22T14:20:00.000-04:002006-08-22T14:20:00.000-04:00It's always interesting to see how books changed o...It's always interesting to see how books changed over the years.
