Tris...Alianore, it's a definite uphill battle!

Trish, I've never done more than dipped into Bacon, Buck, and Walpole. Kendall gets my blood pressure high enough. I'm working on a novel about Margaret of Anjou now, and his bias against her and the Lancastrians is as strong as his later bias in favor of Richard III and against all of his opponents. It's sad that people still use his books as a major source for their research.Susan Higginbothamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13517907583894026599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-16595955259477420582010-01-14T07:23:19.315-05:002010-01-14T07:23:19.315-05:00Mistakes? I’ve been less than a year in this job and already I’ve caught out three dozen historians in messing up, misleading or missing out altogether including the Institute of Historical Research!

At the moment I’m getting hysterical about Walpole’s historic doubts he who claimed amongst other things that Edward V attended his father’s coronation, that his new gown was made to attend his uncle’s coronation at a time when he was still king and that Lady Eleanor’s mother was Katherine Stafford daughter of Humphrey Duck of Buckingham – it was actually Margaret Beauchamp daughter of Richard, Earl of Warwick.

Historic doubts? Have I plenty! Including Bacon, Buck and Murray Kendall the idol now revealed not only to have feet of clay but crumbling clay at that!trish wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01292123010612021866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-83976644047431195342010-01-11T13:58:11.978-05:002010-01-11T13:58:11.978-05:00Interesting to see how these mistakes get started!...Interesting to see how these mistakes get started! I hope that all the sites which give the wrong birthdate will correct it, but given how much rubbish about Edward II still appears online just about every day despite my best efforts for the last few years, I'm not holding out much hope! :-)Kathryn Warnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00397714441908100576noreply@blogger.com
