Thanks for the Good Points here. How PG managed to get so much wrong is beyond belief, especially with so much research available for the effort of typing it in on the Internet. All this with Jacquetta, with Nonsuch Palace entering the story 100 years too early, unfortunately this all does two things: 1) gives historical novelists a bad name and 2) has a lot of people who should know better believing this nonsense. Roll on my chance to put the record straight as publicly as she is busy unstraightening it at the moment.
My publicity drive starts any time soon, as my first book (on Clarence) is due out this month. (My second follows in April, the third in June and the fourth in October, print schedules permitting.)
I follow very few blogs as most of them are uninteresting or downright stupid. It seems to me that PG should stick to fiction.

My single experience with a PG book was an abrdiged audio version, and I couldn't get through that one. For me, life's too short to read a book just to find the glaring errors--even in the audio version. Although my hat's off to anyone willing to do it. It appears Ms Gregory needs a dose of reality.

Joan
---
This Time, ISBN-13: 978-0-9824493-0-1
website: http://www.joanszechtman.com/
blog: http://rtoaaa.blogspot.com/Joanszhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00310350850882768819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-33210876823690290222009-08-04T10:00:41.206-04:002009-08-04T10:00:41.206-04:00Yes, precisely! In Gregory's version, Margaret...Yes, precisely! In Gregory's version, Margaret must be arriving in England, dropping everything to race to London to save Jacquetta from execution, and then hurrying back to Tewkesbury to be defeated. Either that or Gregory has Henry actually ruling in 1469, instead of Warwick governing in Edward IV's name.

Unfortunately, all of this is increasing my impatience to read this book just to see how she manages to get so many things wrong.Susan Higginbothamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13517907583894026599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-4615446184914613892009-08-04T09:31:46.663-04:002009-08-04T09:31:46.663-04:00Unless my chronology is completely wrong this all ...Unless my chronology is completely wrong this all happened when Warwick took over the government and imprisoned Edward for a few months while ruling in his name. It was before Warwick's 'reconciliation' with Margaret, and she was somewhere in France. PG's version would only make sense if it took place during the readeption, and even then Margaret would have to intervene via carrier pigeon from France. By the time she landed in England Warwick was dead.Brian Wainwrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16867772590464992131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21031350.post-75574793000818047522009-08-04T08:47:45.182-04:002009-08-04T08:47:45.182-04:00Ah, it was "Margaret of Anjou" she said ...Ah, it was "Margaret of Anjou" she said intervened!
