Welcome to my blog! I'm delighted to be participating in the 2010 Virtual Advent Tour, as I have over the past couple years.
First, my family and I got a little goofy this year. Not only did we decide to buy an artificial Christmas tree (a very popular decision with my husband, who didn't have to wrestle it into a stand or water it), we decided to get a PINK artificial Christmas tree. And boy, is it pink! Next year, we hope to have more color-coordinated trimmings on it, the better to revel in its sheer pinkness.
Second, as you might not know if you're stopping by here for the first time, I write historical fiction, and the novel I'm working on presently is set in Tudor England. So for this year's Advent tour, I thought it would be fun to imagine what self-help books some of the Tudor gang might be hoping to get this year for Christmas. (All the books are real and can be found on Amazon.)
Margaret Beaufort: The Single Mother's Guide to Raising Remarkable Boys.
Henry Tudor: What's Next? Follow Your Passion and Find Your Dream Job.
Elizabeth of York: When He's Married to Mom: How to Help Mother-Enmeshed Men Open Their Hearts to True Love and Commitment.
Henry VIII: Winning Your Divorce: A Man's Survival Guide.
Catherine of Aragon: What to Do When He Says I Don't Love You Anymore.
Anne Boleyn: Mr. Right, Right Now! How a Smart Woman Can Land Her Dream Man in 6 Weeks.
Jane Seymour: Dating The Divorced Man: Sort Through the Baggage to Decide If He's Right for You.
Anne of Cleves: Still Friends: Living Happily Ever After...Even If Your Marriage Falls Apart.
Catherine Howard: Are You Keeping a Secret?: Finding Freedom from Hidden Issues That Can Ravage Your Life.
Katherine Parr: Liberating Losses: When Death Brings Relief.
Anne Stanhope: You Say I'm a Bitch Like It's a Bad Thing.
Edward VI: The Teenager's Guide to the Awesome God.
Jane Grey: A Smart Girl's Guide to Sticky Situations: How to Tackle Tricky, Icky Problems and Tough Times.
Guildford Dudley: Teenage Survival Manual: How to Reach 20 in One Piece.
Mary I: He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys.
Elizabeth I: A Passion for Purity: Protecting God's Precious Gift of Virginity.
Mary, Queen of Scots: Smart Women/Foolish Choices: Finding the Right Men Avoiding the Wrong Ones.
I'll probably get in a couple of more posts before the year ends, but just in case you don't get another chance to stop in before 2011, I'd like to wish you a very Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it) and a Happy New Year!

Wow - that is one pink tree!!
Love the book choices - especially the Anne Stanhope one.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.
My daughter would want that tree! I love your book list, especially the one for Elizabeth I.
The tree must be awesome when alight!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
Good thinking, Susan!
Hilarious!
And I love your pink (your VERY pink) tree!
My Advent post is at www.readerbuzz.blogspot.com.
Thanks, all!
Wow, there must be self help books for problems that don't even exist. I never go near those aisles. ;)
Heh, got the idea for one: The Secret Meaning of Blogger Verification Words and How They Can Lead to More Meaningful Comments. :)
It took Anne more than 6 weeks - evidently that book was the very thing she needed :-)
Have a very happy Christmas (with the amazing pink tree), and best wishes for the New Year!
It's always a pleasure to see what you are going to come up with for your posts!
That tree is VERY pink! Need the sunnies on for your first glimpse of that every morning.
Thank you for participating in the Advent Tour again this year, and Happy Holidays to you and your family, including your fur babies!
Ah dear Margaret or as Brian calls her ‘Blessed Margaret’ All I can say is if Madam Maggie ended up being kicked into eternity somewhat prematurely it wasn’t anything she didn’t deserve. How did M K Jones miss out on this one? Needs to brush up on his history as well as his geography.
Oh the things one’s learnt about during the latest research including medieval cookery and medieval medicine. Roast swan for Christmas anyone? Actually it’s roast cygnet. By the way not all UK swans are the property of HM and horror of horrors commoners are eating them. Enough to make H8 revolve in his grave faster than the speed of light. For myself I’m going medieval this year with 3Game Bird Roast and Saddle of Venison. Turkey? Bah! Humbug! You can stuff that !
As for MB’s buddy-buddy Morton what a diabolical man. Cardinal he may have been but definitely short on the peace and goodwill. What a fiendish and definitely spiteful ulterior motive he had for pushing H6’s canonisation. Just as well EOY had a powerful cardinal for a cousin.
Pink Christmas Tree? Is that because one couldn’t make one’s mind up about which to support the Red or the White and opted for the happy compromise?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone, And all the best Sue for the forthcoming MoA launch. Any complimentary copies going spare you know where to post one.
